Abstract

Coast Guard E-GIS: Implementing Enterprise Solutions for the Coast Guard
Track: System Implementation for GIS
Authors: Mike Lakey

The Coast Guard Enterprise GIS (E-GIS) Program was established to support the core missions of the United States Coast Guard by supplying critical GIS data, services, and functionality to a wide variety of Coast Guard systems and users. The E-GIS Development Team has enhanced the capabilities of GIS in the Coast Guard by developing numerous enterprise-wide application and service solutions based on the ArcGIS Explorer and ArcGIS Server platforms. This presentation will address how the team leveraged these development platforms to create customized sets of displays, services, and advanced geoprocessing tools and functions available to all GIS users in the Coast Guard. The presentation will also highlight additional technologies used by the E-GIS team to enhance their GIS solutions, including: KML and SQL Server Spatial for tracking vessels, ArcGIS Server Geoportal Extension for data catalog search and discovery, and WebSocket Server for monitoring the status of E-GIS services and functions.
