Track: Emergency Medical Services/Fire

The Texas Wildfire Risk Assessment Portal (TxWRAP) is a suite of geo-web applications deployed using ArcGIS Server 10 and a customized AGS Flex interface. TxWRAP is the primary mechanism for Texas Forest Service to distribute risk assessment information and create awareness about wildfire issues across the state. TxWRAP is intended to satisfy a wide range of users, including: the public, government officials, wildland fire managers, and hazard/mitigation planners. Each application is tailored to meet specific workflow requirements.

As the first fully geo-web enabled wildfire risk assessment portal in the Nation, it is anticipated that TxWRAP will be the platform for developing a similar portal for all 13 southern states as part of the on-going Southern Wildfire Risk Assessment project.

This paper will present an overview of the design and development approach, issues addressed and lessons learned, as well as provide a real time demonstration of the TxWRAP web application suite.
