Abstract

GIS Implementation at California Water Service Company, CA
Track: Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater
Authors: Satish Sadanandam

Cal Water used ESRI's Water data model and established a conversion standard to convert all the maps to GIS. GIS is now serving various departments like Operations for Hydraulic Model creation and analysis; Water Quality by providing the location maps for their Sample Taps, Maintenance by providing Flushing Maps, Leak Maps etc. System Maps and Map Books are also created/maintained using this GIS data. GIS data can also be viewed using an online application that runs on ArcGIS sever.
We create 'Station & Schematic' drawings using CAD and link them in GIS data.

GPS technology is being used for locating assets; creating accurate as-builts.

Participants will learn how the work translates into a more manageable environment as the system grows to enhance data integrity / security and lessons learned from our implementation.
