SIGNOS Thematics: spreading thematic maps through the web
Track: Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater

SIGNOS is the GIS system from SABESP, wich is the biggest water and wastewater company in Brazil with more than 7 milion clients. Since 2004 this solution has played an important part of integrating corporate systems. However the GIS analysis dissemination was very poor, because it was made using a desktop environment based on GE SmallWorld. With this solution, not all users were receiving the informations and some works had to be redone.
Based on that, SABESP started a project to:
1) increase the number of ArcGIS licenses in order to have more areas using them.
2) development of a plug-in to have acess to the corporate GIS database.
3) development of a GIS Portal with standardized thematic maps.
With this project based on ArcGIS the whole Company now have acess to the same maps, with no data multiplication and with standardized GIS information.
