Enterprise GIS Architecture for Conservation
Track: Database Design, Automation, and Management

Technology stream (DBM/SYS) with special emphasis on the planning, design and implementation of a fully distributed spatial database, with 3 tiers at National, regional (2) and conservancy office (12) levels. Each level holding a smaller section of information to enable efficient and effective distribuition and collection of data. The National database will hold all information pertaining to the conservation effort by the Department of Conservation in New Zealand. The area includes 38% of the land mass of New Zealand. Data are to be replicated up and down the stack. Additionally a number of ARCGIS servers wil provide the following: Web Application delivery, a portal (SDI), interoprability between SAP and GIS
