Abstract

Airports GIS and Electronic ALP
Track: Transportation

Airports GIS is a web portal which hosts a few application modules. It allows authorized users to submit changes to airport data. One module in this portal is electronic Airport Layout Plan (eALP). During the last two years FAA has conducted one pilot program involving a few airports to study this eALP. Some of the conclusions from this study have been included in the current version of eALP. The next phase of eALP will improve upon the fist phase in many ways so as to allow web editing of Airport layout, distinguish different obstruction layers, incorporate eALP versioning, and allow electronic signature while submitting eALP. We have identified ArcGIS server and ArcInfo tools for our development environment. The potential of ArcGIS server in web editing and providing viewing capability is enormous. We will also use web map tile service available through ArcGIS server.
