Abstract

Using Esri Technology to Improve the Medical Reserve Corps' Effectiveness
Track: Health and Human Services
Authors: Kevin Wright

The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is a community-based volunteer organization designed to prepare for and respond to emergencies and promote healthy living throughout the year. MRC volunteers include medical and public health professionals as well as other non medical volunteers.
Like many programs, the MRC has limited resources. The Office of Civilian Volunteer Medical Reserve Corps (OCVMRC) and ICF International have been using the power of Esri technology to most effectively and efficiently allocate these limited resources. From analyzing where to focus their recruiting and community health efforts using ArcGIS Desktop to a cloud based ArcGIS Server application that provides basic spatial intelligence about the critical infrastructure in the communities they serve, the Medical Reserve Corps is helping to create health, safe and resilient communities across the nation. This presentation will demonstrate the tools and technology used to make that happen.
