Online Education using GIS Cloud Computing

The use of cloud computing in GIS is new to the ArcGIS 10 software suite. In this presentation, we will report our findings of how cloud computing was received in an online educational environment. Students were exposed to this methodoloyg as a reinforcement of virtualization, both in the classroom and in simulating development/testing/staging/and production environments for GIS applications. The students' ability to acclimate to virtualized GIS in a virtualized classroom provides educators with lessons learned and Best Practices as they consider the use of cloud computing as a teaching tool in GIS.
