Abstract

TerraSond Uses Esri Bathymetry System for Managing and Deploying Data
Track: Charting and Data Collecting
Authors: Daniel Seamount

TerraSond provides professional survey services to clients around the world including hydrographic, terrestrial, and marine geophysical surveys. TerraSond has used Esri's ArcGIS Desktop technology for mapping and analysis of their surveys, but has been faced with on-going challenges of how to manage and store mass amounts of survey data. Over the past year, Esri has been developing a bathymetry system to solve this exact problem for those involved with nautical charting, habitat mapping, pipeline, offshore construction and geo-hazard surveys.

This paper will provide an overview of how TerraSond is evaluating and using Esri's bathymetry system. This system provides a solution for management and storing of data in a Bathymetric Database, persistence of metadata, utilization of Mosaic Datasets, integration with a Production Navigational Database, and Dissemination & Analysis of Data through the Web for client interaction and internal use. This technology brings a new system of product delivery to the client.
