The Lunar Mapping and Modeling Project (LMMP) led by the Marshall Space Flight center (MSFC) is responsible for guiding the development of an information system that supports lunar exploration activities. JPL has developed the LMMP interoperable geo information system's underlying infrastructure, including aggregation of lunar data, from the Apollo era to the latest instruments on the LRO spacecraft, into a central repository, management of lunar data, as well as a single portal for access to the lunar maps and products by scientists and the general public.
The LMMP information system includes a suite of geospatial centric Web Services such as WFS.
It is also comprised of PORTAL data management components that support back end capabilities such as LMMP GIS, Catalog, Search, Catalog, Ingestion, and Data Processing.
We will demonstrate the LMMP portal, lunar image processing, mobile interfaces for the Apple iPhone and iPad, and discuss the underlying architecture.
