Community Map Initiative in Venezuelan Universities

This session will cover the University Community Maps Initiative as a way to create a collaborative effort to upgrade GIS and enhance cartography at urban and regional scales using the Community Maps templates. To date, this consortium has incorporated nine public and private Venezuelan Universities that have agreed to creating GIS Workgroups to get involved in data conversion, maps template standardization and using satellite imagery served by ArcGIS Online to upgrade and update the existing urban and regional basemaps. This session will describe multiple uses of the new maps developed and the general society gains from the collaborative effort.
