Stormwater QC – From Raw to Ready
Track: Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater

The City of Fort Worth is locating and mapping all of our stormwater assets. Our goal is to create a complete and comprehensive GIS representing the open and enclosed stormwater system which will allow the City of Fort Worth to better manage its 5.7 million linear feet of pipe and associated assets.
This presentation will outline the procedures and custom tools used to ensure data quality. Similar to other organizations we conduct a random sample to check the data but because we intend to use the data for complex hydraulic modeling we have added three additional layers of review. We use hydraulic modeling software to ensure there are no errors being created, we utilize GIS tools to ensure network connectivity and we use a custom tool to check for over 600 possible errors in the attribute data.
