In this paper, the use of GIS for environmental management & ecosystem restoration is explained with example case study. The use of a GIS as a framework to manage and maintain environmental information to facilitate business processes and workflows for ecosystem restoration relying on this information, through the accommodation of integrated object-oriented data modeling scheme, interactive web GIS application is explained in the paper. The management of the environmental information as restoration progresses through the use of visualization and analysis capabilities of GIS integrated with real time field data is described. The environmental information database integrated with interactive web GIS application with additional customization and automation tools would facilitate time, cost efficient and high quality ecosystem restoration through informed decisions. It will also enable tracking the progress as restoration progresses.
