GIS and Mass Notification for Managing the Stockton River Port

The Port of Stockton in California is one of the largest river ports in the Western USA. The port employs geospatial technologies to manage diverse and critical needs, including security, real estate, and maintenance. The enterprise system is delivered to all port users via a web browser, based on individual permissions. The overall solution combines traditional GIS layers such as properties, buildings, roads and areas of environmental sensitivity; scanned archival engineering drawings; a variety of live data feeds such as vessel locations, video feeds, door access control readers, and weather stations; public notification tools such as programmable signs, flashing alerts signs, an emergency broadcast AM radio station; and a Mass Notification System ("Reverse-911). Working together, these deliver one of the most advanced systems of its kind in any port in the US.
