Using ArcGIS Server for real-time data visualization
Track: Architecture, Engineering, and Construction

In order to support the development of the Transbay Transit Center in San Francisco Arup have been using ArcGIS Server and Amazon Web Services to provide a platform to collect real-time geotechnical monitoring data. The Transbay Transit Center will be San Franciscos premiere transportation hub. This work involves a number of deep excavations downtown. In order to mitigate geotechnical risk and also save time and money Arup are using a network of geotechnical instrumentation which are feeding data in real time to an ArcGIS Server web application which is securely hosted on an architecture supported by Amazon Web services. As the data is loaded in real-time, engineers are able to log-in and indentify an instrument in its real-world position and then access the most up-to-date data using some dynamically updating graphs. This presentation will cover how ArcGIS Server is being used and the benefits it is bringing the project.
