Abstract
Using ESRI Online Geocoding Service In An Hydraulic Modeling Project
Track: Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater
Authors: Joanne Liao
Hazen and Sawyer was commissioned to update the water distribution system model of the Hamilton Township Municipal Utilities Authority (HTMUA) and evaluate the impact of the system's ability to meet fireflow demands when the Western Tank is taken out of service for painting.
First step is to update demand thus accounts need to be geocoded. A composite address locator was built from the parcel and centerline files provided by the HTMUA and downloaded from the State of New Jersey Department of Transportation but with only 60% of matched addresses. Eventually the ESRI online service address locator was used to match approximately 80% of the accounts. The online geocoding service is of great advantage for being fast and giving a much higher match. This will show the audience the benefit of using the ESRI online geocoding service for their geocoding needs in an engineering/water distribution system modeling project.
