Track: Transportation
Authors: Brent Lanford, Kevin Stewart
The Georgia Association of Regional Commissions (GARC) recently implemented a GIS-based sign retroreflectivity application that uses ArcGIS Server Enterprise Advanced to keep up with sign inventory and maintenance.
The goal of the pilot program is to the use GARC as the conduit to provide a solution and services to support municipal and county government agencies to comply with the Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA) sign retroreflectivity regulations. This approach will offer select local governments in each Regional Commission's (RCs) territory an economy of scale entry point to technology that will support their compliance to the FHWA regulation and overall sign management activities. Each participating agency will be given access to the web and mobile GIS software at a highly discounted rate. The solution supports agencies with sign inventory, maintenance activities, and FHWA retroreflectivity compliance.
