Abstract
Web Mapping at the City of Seattle's DOT
Track: Transportation
Authors: Dana Trethewy
The City of Seattle's DOT has a number of web maps in production, under development and in various stages of the proposal process. Mapping deliverables and increasingly web maps are becoming standard project deliverables with the City's DOT. The presentation will focus on the evolution of web mapping at the DOT including business drivers, technology, lessons learned and the road ahead. The DOT has adopted the ArcGIS Server and JavaScript API as its standard platform. This has been valuable in both meeting internal IT standards along with the comparable ease it has afforded in the design, development and launch of web applications for both internal users and the public. Lessons learned will address the resources, data and infrastructure that the DOT has found necessary to successfully launch the applications. The road ahead will focus on web mapping applications that are currently under development and in proposal stages at the DOT.
