Crash Site Debris Recovery Mobile Application

ArcGIS Mobile applications are extremely useful in field-based GIS operations, especially in disaster situations. This paper presents such an application called the Crash Site Debris Recovery Mobile Application which was specifically created to assist first responders locate survivors and critical debris in aircraft crashes. Detailed is how this application was constructed to locate areas of high debris concentration on a GPS enabled mobile device based on the user's location, surrounding topography, aircraft type, and dynamic crash formulas. This paper additionally demonstrates the application's effectiveness by presenting experiments conducted with the application in real-world conditions.
