Due to the rapid urbanization and commercialization, the young generation of rural areas in Taiwan chooses to inhabit in the cities, which has caused some social problems such as labor shortage and slow development in the countryside. In 2010, Taiwan government enacted "Rural Village Revitalization Act intending to solve above-mentioned problems as well as to promote the leisure and recreation in the countryside. In our application, the authors collect the data from several heterogeneous databases by using web services to establish a WebGIS platform for sharing information of Taiwan's rural villages. This platform displays the spatial information, characteristics and achievements of rural village revitalization for the past decades. Different from traditional websites or paper-based reports, we display the information directly in digital maps. By integrating the information and digital map, users can easily refer to information according to spatial locations of rural areas with impressive experience.
