Abstract
Creating a Dynamic Landsat ETM Plus Mosaic for Canada
Track: Imagery and Raster
Authors: David Fraser, Yun Zhang
This paper will discuss the process used to create a Landsat 7 mosaic for Canada. Included in this discussion will be a brief outline of the geodatabase operations, geoprocessing tools, python scripts and on-the-fly processing functions that were used to create the mosaic.
In order to compare and contrast ESRI's dynamic mosaicking approach (i.e. its workflow, visual appearance of resulting mosaic, etc.) with the more conventional, static mosaic creation process, a mosaic will also be generated for a test area in Canada using the conventional static approach.
Finally the authors will introduce some functions - that is, functions not included as part of ESRI's dynamic mosaic toolset - that can be used to improve the overall visual appearance of the Landsat mosaic.
