Implementing an Enterprise GIS solution in a corporate environment that has hundreds of existing GIS and CAD users has many distinctive challenges. This presentation will discuss the balance and decisions between essential consulting projects and implementing the enterprise GIS architecture that complements internal work flows. ICE supports and manages projects as a government owned utility company of almost 700,000 customers.
The presentation will enfold Project Management and an overall strategic plan to ensure several single points in the plan where achievement is crucial for a successful implementation of an enterprise GIS system. Central consulting projects included a Needs Assessment and Go Forward Plan and Vendor Selection. Best of breed software tools, communication plan, Business Process Management, training plan and the proper organization were vital to support the implementation. Bi lingual and cultural differences were challenges and benefits during the 3 year project plan.
