A web based flex application has been implemented for the timber supply forecast of the private forest estate which includes all of their constraints.
This flex application was built using REST services for based maps (Orthophotos and Hybrid maps) and series of forestry operational layers: forest stands and forest constraints published by the Forecast team.
Flex web GIS interface produces real time timber supply forecasts on user collected and submitted data. This data is submitted using a prepared form for individual forest stands. Within this form, forest management prescriptions can be defined and a variety of scenarios can be run. Using the Statistical package 'R', a calculation is carried out and published as a widget. The application includes a series of widgets for calculating single tree volume and stand estimates. Flex application enables foresters to access and update their forestry compartments and the national forecast results through a web interface.
