Track: Computer-Aided Dispatch and 911
Authors: Marvin Garland
The Navy advances the deployment of Navy Emergency Response Management Systems (NERMS). Implemented across three Navy Regions (Southwest, Southeast, District Washington), NERMS is a GIS based, Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system that provides emergency managers with a focused Common Operational Picture (COP). This CAD-GIS system utilizes latest technologies to allow 911 call-taking and dispatching for police, fire and medical emergencies and provide for base-wide alarm monitoring services. NGA-HSIP, NAVFAC GRC, and municipal stakeholders have worked collectively in integrating telephony ANI/ALI, 911 address verification and location, Navy building location, alarm type and location, Naval Installation as well as fire and police zones. Geospatial data exchange of this complexity and size continues its success through the collaboration of project sponsors such as CNIC, SPAWAR Pacific and NAVFAC's ATFP & GRC. NERMS remains a scalable & integrated solution for 911 services across the Navy.
