Obesity is one of the most pressing health issues facing our society today. Health is affected by more than just what's in our blood - our surrounding community also impacts our health. Existing research suggests that both place and poverty are strongly correlated with obesity. Using a custom-developed online Bivariate Spatial Visualization tool, we can create maps based on percentile distributions of multiple variables. By isolating counties that fall into the extremes of both poverty and obesity, we can better illustrate the relationship between them.
