Track: Parks, Natural Reserves, Fisheries, and Wildlife Management
Authors: Arthur Reinelt
The Bavarian Forest National Park has a large variety auf visitor infrastructures (buildings, finger boards, information boards and so on), which will be collect with a mobile GIS system.
Purpose of the project was the systematic collection of visitor infrastructures with mobile GIS (ArcPAD) as well as storage and management of the data in a geodatabase (ArcSDE).
For this purpose a geodatabase was designed which represented the visitor infrastructure. The geometry and the attribute data structure were exported to ArcPAD on a PDA for collecting data in the field. After the field collection the data was imported to the geodatabase.
ArcGIS was use for analysis and visualization of the data in the main office. For the field offices the ArcView project was published for ArcReader. The ArcReader is running on a terminal server farm with Citrix technology.
