Data Collection on Transportation Asset Infrastructures inTohnil ts'ili (Crystal, NM)

Navajo Nation Crystal Chapter was selected for this transportation asset management inventory pilot project to gather GPS data on culverts, signs, bridges and cattle guards infrastructures. Crystal Chapter is an approximate 134 square miles community located in New Mexico and Arizona on the Navajo Reservation with nearly 100 miles of official Indian Reservation Roads Inventory roadways. Topcon handheld units with ArcPad software were utilized to collect location, attributes and photos for each infrastructure and populated into a GIS database. The results will be presented on maps and lessons learned, also share some improvements for GPS data collection to complete the nationwide inventory will conclude the presentation.
