Track: State and Local Government
Authors: Randy Booze
The presentation will review how the City of Mesa generated over Three Million Dollars ($3,000,000) in additional Sales Tax Revenue in a pilot project to test a theory using GIS technology to perform data comparisons between the City of Mesa's Sales Tax system and the County's Parcel data. The presentation will also include a review of the City of Mesa's new Address Verification GIS Web application that enhances the process of collaboration between the agencies through the integration of different City and external data sources that allow the City to verify property information, audit business licenses, verify property and sales taxes, and build better land use and business support databases that benefit City, County, and State agencies. This presentation will discuss the steps the City went through to integrate, compare, and process the data used to generate revenue utilizing GIS technology.
