In order to assess potential areas with health professional shortages it is very important to know how many health professionals are currently serving specific geographies. Data tracking these numbers are available from a number of different sources, but are varied and no one source seems to be fully complete or one hundred percent accurate. With this knowledge it has been affectively displayed using ArcGIS server to create interactive mapping and data visualization tools based on both the American Medical Association Physician Masterfile and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services National Provider Identifier data to gain a better understanding of where the physicians and other health professionals are currently and where there are differences within the two databases.
