Abstract
Hillshading the urban environment
Track: 3D
Authors: Henk Kramer, Jan Clement
We have applied the Hillshade algorithm in an Dutch city with as input a detailed digital surface model (DSM)that includes buildings and vegetation objects. Hillshades were calculated for one day with a hourly interval. The daily summary gives a good impression of the sunny and shadowed areas in the city including the effect of the vegetation.
This result can be used as an input layer for modelling the urban climate or urban heat islands
