Abstract
Using Community Analyst for Aid to Community Health Centers
Track: Health and Human Services
Authors: Andrew Schroeder
Direct Relief International distributes humanitarian medical material assistance, including essential medicines and medical supplies, to non-profit community health centers across the US. Through the ESRI non-profit program's pilot effort to improve utilization of Community Analyst, we have deployed Community Analyst over the web and on the desktop to profile community-level services, health disparities and disaster vulnerabilities. To conduct this analysis, determine priority targets and drive resources efficiently to vulnerable populations, we have linked Community Analyst into our enterprise GIS, joining it with SAP enterprise data and ArcGIS server to distribute spatial intelligence across multiple members of our organization. This presentation will demonstrate analytic results of this work at the same time that we document and detail our efforts to integrate Community Analyst into our enterprise GIS structure. Particular attention will be paid to preparation at the community clinics for hurricane response via spatial analytics driving our our preparedness pack program.
