Abstract
GIS: the agile platform for delivering multidimensional analytical data.
Track: Analysis and Geoprocessing
Authors: Kirk Mower
Modern business, especially in fields that impact the environment, requires more and more scientific analysis by specialists. Data visualisation is a key tool to getting detailed analytical data into a form that can be grasped easily at a higher level in an organization. Specialization, however, requires focussed attention on one's field, and no one can do everything.
The presentation will go over tips for creating an agile culture within a GIS team, and forming partnerships with specialists with a focus on data-driven deliverables. Next, a real world example will be presented of going from detailed analytical produced in MatLab – to the NetCDF tool in ArcGIS desktop, to final delivery on the web. The tools and techniques used, along with the system architecture (including the free ESRI Flex components) will be presented at the workflow level, along with the critical issue of shifting team time to development from map production.
