Track: Implementing Enterprise GIS

Kent County's GIS System has grown from a 'one-man' shop in the 1990's to a robust multi-tiered system used by almost every department throughout the County today. The full-time staff of 4 now includes a GIS Team Lead, two GIS Analysts and a GIS Programmer. The County currently has 70+ ArcGIS installs running on a SQL Sever based ArcSDE 10 database, both an Intranet and Internet ArcServer 10 Silverlight web solution, as well as Pictometry oblique aerial photo integration. This presentation will touch on a brief history of our system, and how it has grown into an invaluable resource for everybody from the County Drain Commission, Community Development Office and County Assessor to the newly formed Kent County Dispatch Authority (911), Emergency Management and Sheriffs Department. We will touch on a few example GIS projects that have "wowed County departments, saved countless hours of work, and improved analysis efficiency.
