Moving from a Solar Map to a Sustainability Map
Track: Climate Change

The LA County Solar Map is a simple, elegant map that enables sophisticated solar calculations for any building within the 3,000 square miles of the County of Los Angeles. Built using Esri's ArcGIS Server for Flex technology, anyone can select a location; see aerial imagery of the rooftops and color-coded dots indicating the amount of direct sunlight hitting each portion of the selected roof; and perform easily interpreted analysis essential for making solar installation decisions. LA County continues to work toward a one-stop shop vision for clean energy tools by introducing new energy efficiency tools that will transform "LA County Solar Map into "LA County Sustainability Map,' which will provide the citizens of Los Angeles County with embedded, custom financial modeling for both solar and energy efficiency projects.
