Abstract
The Red-Assiniboine SPARROW Project – Leveraging International Geospatial Harmonization
Track: Water Resources
Authors: Robert Jenkinson, Mike Laitta
The Red-Assiniboine SPARROW (SPAtially Referenced Regressions On Watershed attributes) Project is a bi-national (US & Canada) water quality modelling effort facilitated by the International Joint Commission (IJC) that relies heavily on national, regional and local geospatial data from both counties. This project represents the first application of the results from the IJC's bi-national Hydrographic Data Harmonization project and highlights the importance of data harmonization in hydrologic and water quality applications, the challenges in bringing disparate data sources together, and the use of GIS systems to automate the processes associated with data integration and model development.
