The technological application of Geographic Information Systems and GPS has advanced agricultural management into the new field of "Precision Agriculture. Precision Agriculture involves the monitoring of field conditions with the use of remote sensing devices, such as GPS, automated sensors, satellite/aerial images, then compiling them into a spatially correlated management system (GIS) in order to assess and evaluate geographic field variations. In the past 5 yrs. Precision Agriculture has taken on a much boarder definition. The application of a precision program extends far beyond just the use of GPS. Precision agriculture has developed into the complete application of technologies which aim at the improvement of farming practices based on the individual needs of your operations. In this presentation I will explain the methodology and benefits of implementing a Precision Ag Management Program which harnesses existing technologies pushing toward the goal of increasing operational efficiency.
