Development of web-based portal for Fire Hazard Management

Last two decades earth is experiencing natural and manmade disasters. Local government, national government and non-government agencies are working on the line of preparation for the sustenance of disaster. Geographic Information System, Remote Sensing, Mobile and Tele-communication technology are the advancements towards the support for the preparedness, decision making, communication, collaboration and co-ordination with time and location.
This paper is an outcome of a study in which an effort has made to develop a portal using ArcGIS and open source geoserver software for Fire Hazard in urban area. The portal functions for the emergency decision support system on-line hence it is quick and effective for response. A portal has been validated with taking a case study of a part of the city. The spatial and non-spatial query, visualization, measurement of the shortest route and the route management, the capability of updating the data are integrate part of the portal.
