Abstract
GIS Workflow for Statewide Levy Districts in Montana
Track: Cadastral and Land Records
Authors: Ted Chase
Levy district information is important data used in property valuation. For many years PAD had disparate processes to maintain and account for levy information. Using GIS workflows and technology, DOR dramatically improved the quality of levy information and enhanced the distribution of levy boundary mapping data made available to over 200 staff and the public.
This presentation will explain how using statewide cadastral GIS data, CAMA data and ArcReader, DOR was able to rapidly discover levy data discrepancies in our CAMA database. Staff unfamiliar with GIS data, analysis and mapping were able to quickly learn ArcReader and resolve discrepancies in the CAMA database once the cadastral and CAMA data were integrated.
A description of the final tasks involved in building a statewide levy boundary line geodatabase, generating v10 data driven pages mapbooks, SDE layers and map services to distribute the data to staff and the public will also be discussed.
