Abstract
The US Topo - The Journey So Far
Track: National Mapping
Authors: Larry Davis
In 2009 the U.S. Geological Survey began production of the "Digital Map – Beta. The 'Digital Map - Beta' was the first step toward a new generation of digital topographic maps delivered by the U.S. Geological Survey. The "Digital Map – Beta set the stage for the next step - the production of the US Topo. These maps are built from The National Map data, which are integrated from local, State, and Federal agencies, along with other sources. Production processes and a variety of software have been implemented to streamline job assignment and tracking, production methods, and delivery of approximately 18,000 US Topo products annually. This presentation will discuss the overall US Topo production process, system development lifecycle and ESRI software products used throughout the production cycle. Software products include: ArcGIS Server, Workflow Manager, Production Mapping, ArcGIS Desktop, and ArcGIS Image Server.
