The Efficiency of GIS Application in Social Reform Process

The availability and quality of social services is considered one of the most important issues concerned by both the public and government in Egypt. Social services are divided into two main sections. Supply services, which include subsidized bread, ration cards; Social affairs services, which include social pensions, assistance.
GIS offers the possibility to find the most suitable solution and helping to take the best decisions, especially regarding the handling of spatial information and analyzing them. The study aims to use GIS to assess the quality and necessity of current social services provided by the Ministry of Social Solidarity (MOSS).
GIS techniques and functions used to assess social services availability; such as determining the well or poorly served areas for a particular service.
The study recommended the importance and necessity of using GIS in comprehensive services planning, not only in social services but also in all other services and sectors.
