Abstract
Leveraging Interoperability Standards for the Integration of acQuire and GIS

Barrick Gold has adopted the acQuire Geoscientific Information Management System (GIMS) as the global standard for storing drilling and sampling geoscientific observations and measurements. Until recently, accessing this data in our desktop GIS required either an export, meaning instantly-stale data, or an OLE link to create an Event layer, which performs poorly with larger data extractions. This paper describes our investigation to leverage off Open Data (OData) and GeoRSS web protocols to deliver user-defined queries from acQuire to Barrick's GIS systems.
