The US Department of Energy (DOE) initiated carbon sequestration program with public/private partnership involving more than 400 organizations covering 43 states and 4 Canadian provinces. The National Carbon Sequestration Database (NATCARB) is an Adobe Flex based ArcGIS Server Viewer developed to provide a user friendly dynamic view of carbon capture and storage (CCS) potential in USA and Canada.
The NATCARB viewer organizes, displays, and analyzes information related to large stationary CO2 sources and storage specifically, oil and gas, coal and saline reservoirs. This application has two viewers. First viewer focuses on general user while the second one focuses on expert user with advanced query display and analysis capabilities for geochemical data. The second viewer performs advanced geochemical analysis such as creating piper plots, box plots, or sample plots utilizing user defined inputs. These viewers can be used as a starting point for analyzing CCS resource potential of a region.
