The Nespresso AAA Sustainable Quality™ Program was launched in 2003 with Rainforest Alliance to secure the future of high quality coffees and the livelihoods of the farmers that grow them. By 2013, Nespresso will support 80'000 farmers in 9 coffee producing countries, implementing best practices, monitoring improvement and developing new projects.
ESRI solution enables us to manage large amount of critical information and optimize the implementation of processes and projects in remote locations.
For data collection, 200 agronomists use GIS enabled mobile application in the coffee farm to assess sustainability and quality practices. They also collect field information, such as plots Geo-referenciation. ArcGIS system analysis enable geographic mapping from farm to region level, in correlation with assessment results. The outcome allows optimization of agronoms action plans, data mining to identify key drivers that impact sustainability and quality and analysis of the systemic farm model and it's interdependence.
