Abstract
Using the Watershed Investment Decision Tool to Interpret Global Change
Track: Climate Change
Authors: Robert Cheetham, Joel Schlagel
Building on Enterprise GIS and Business System data, the U.S Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) developed the Watershed Investment Decision Tool (WIDT), a web-based solution that enables interactive analysis of large datasets in support of sustainable water resource development. The WIDT provides a framework for analyzes that will help develop and interpret global change including climate change and potential effects on USACE projects. These studies will allow USACE to better characterize and understand how global changes may be affecting those projects. By integrating data and decisions across business lines, asset classes, and analytical methods – including risk analysis, condition analysis, budget analysis and demand analysis – the WIDT will drive transparent, repeatable analysis of the Corps business.
This presentation will focus on WIDT development and how it is being used to explore and characterize the vulnerability and resilience of USACE business lines and projects against climate and other global changes.
