Abstract
MISTRA-TRASSEE: Swiss application for pavement maintenance
Track: Transportation
Authors: Luzia Seiler, Gregor Schweizer
In Switzerland, the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO) is responsible for federal highway network. In order to efficiently manage this network, the FEDRO developed the web based GIS application TRASSEE (ArcGIS 10 based) in the frame of the MISTRA project (www.mistra.ch). TRASSEE is used to document the structure, state and type of pavements as well as coordinate the maintenance. Currently more than 2'000'000 highway objects are tract through the system, which uses an unique linear reference system in order to map a multitude of attributes to the segments. Some of the systems capabilities include: users can work with 10'000 or more objects (over the web), perform analysis over the entire highway network, display profiles of pavement structure for different time periods, and work with multiple browser windows over multiple monitors. With this presentation we will discuss some of the challenges encountered and the innovative solutions used to solve them.
