Abstract
Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) for High Performance Web Services
Track: Implementing Enterprise GIS
Authors: Michael Mannion , Mike Cannon, Dave Williams
Content delivery networks (CDNs) extend the capabilities of web services by leveraging 'the cloud'. CDNs are primarily used to increase performance and availability but also have other uses to the geospatial user community. This briefing will discuss, in detail, what CDNs are, how they work, and their benefits to users who have deployed Esri software for the publication of geospatial web services. The authors of this talk have implemented CDNs for both large and small GIS organizations and will cover a wide range of both technical and high-level topics. For the GIS web admin to the program manager, using commercial or open-source approaches, this talk should offer new ideas for improving the speed and availability of your web services.
