The Assistant Deputy Under Secretary for Health (ADUSH) for Policy and Planning GeoPortal Server (AGS) is a web viewable metadata service that presents to internal VA users extensive metadata on each specific Planning Systems Support Group (PSSG) derived dataset. It provides both a thumbnail and initial brief summary of each dataset, can act as a lightweight document management system, as well as provide each dataset in several downloadable formats. This would replace other less user-friendly ways of data dissemination such as downloads via FTP sites and email which is restrictive on file size. The AGS is the "one stop shop for PSSG GIS data.
This site complements the ADUSH GIS Planning Portal. This initiative has the potential to be the flagship geospatial metadata project within VA, and be the catalyst to other parallel implementations within VA. Users are better equipped to visualize choice with GIS data now at their fingertips.
