Abstract
A Workflow for Seabed Survey Data Model Implementation
Track: Geodatabase
Authors: Tami Shannon, Aaron Broughton
The International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (OGP) has published a Seabed Survey Data Model (SSDM) Version 1 which is currently being implemented by several major oil and gas firms to help standardize survey contractor deliverables. While this model is still under development, Fugro GeoConsulting, Inc. is currently using this geodatabase format as their base client deliverable. Technical challenges related to model implementation have included geodatabase duplication into multiple coordinate reference systems, streamlining data loading between CAD and the geodatabase environment, attributing the database in a timely and cost-efficient manner, and creating comprehensive maps that utilize a single SSDM geodatabase. Several ArcGIS 10 functions including Distributed Geodatabase, Export to CAD, Feature Templates, Match to symbols in a Style, and the ArcGIS metadata format were combined and customized to establish a streamlined and efficient workflow for an all-inclusive client data deliverable.
