Abstract
Migration of Water Distribution Mapping to ArcGIS
Track: Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater
Authors: Navneet Virk
From creating just maps using the legacy MicroStation Systems at the Utility District with GIS we made possible the sharing of sea information lying underneath the map. Migrating our data into ArcGIS geodatabase allows us to maintain better data quality by placing a variety of data validations and constraints. The new versioned database allows multiple users to work on the same database. Using ArcGIS we have applied relationships between our distribution features representing the real world scenarios which help us in network tracing. The users of our static Maps are now getting Maps with more accurate, reliable and customized information. More so we are able to integrate with other database systems (customer information, assets database etc) to create custom reports and applications to assist in making informed decisions.
