Georgia Power Land Department is moving toward to centralize the land information using the GIS technology. In the past, staffs have to use the professional GIS tool to access the GIS resource that has limited its users. Recently, a web GIS application has been developed using ESRI Silverlight API and ArcGIS Server. The fully configurable GIS Silverlight application enables the system administrator to configure the application profile and end users to set up the shareable user profiles that contain a set of operational layers and base map settings. Beside the general GIS functions such as location search, feature search and identify, and spatial queries, we also provides capability to create local graphic layers from CSV files or shape files, perform redline operations, georeference an image and provide advanced map printing. With Silverlight, we are able to provide very rich end-use experience and open up the GIS technology to broader audience.
